Jane the Virgin’s Jenna Ortega, who plays young Jane in the series, has been cast to star in Stuck in the Middle, a new single-camera sitcom about a Latino family that will air on Disney Channel.
Stuck in the Middle will be told from the middle child, Harley (Ortega) point of view about the Diaz family. Harley is an engineering whiz kid who engages her inventions to navigate life as the middle child in a family of seven children. Her overlooked status proves to be both a blessing and a curse, as she maneuvers her way through daily antics that come as part of belonging to a large family.
Stuck in the Middle pilot was co-penned by Linda Videtti Figueriredo( Rules of Engagement, Last Man Standing) and Alison Brown(Dog with a Blog), with a story by Brown. Figueriredo will executive produce and serve as showrunner for the series. Other cast include Ronni Hawk who plays Rachel; Kayla Maisonet (Dog with a Blog) plays Georgie; Grant will be played by Isaak Presley (Austin & Ally); Danny by Nicholas Bechtel (General Hopsital); Beast by Malachi Barton (Best Friends Whenever) and Ariana Greenblatt (Liv and Maddie) will play Daphne.
Production for Stuck in the Middle is slated to begin this November with a Spring 2016 debut.
Besides playing young Jane on Jane the Virgin, Orgeta’s other credits include Fox’s Rake, CSI: NY and Netflix’s Richie Rich. She also appeared in roles in Iron Man 3 and Insidious: Chapter 3.
