Paraphrased from a phone report given me by a close friend who attended the taping tonight.
The cold open starts out that Bernadette sends Howard on a very small scavenger hunt with clues which lead him to learn that she is pregnant. She is excited and can’t wait for him to learn, but his reaction isn’t exactly what she had prepared for in her mind. Instead Howard begins to worry about all kinds of things including finances and suddenly shows that he is afraid that they should not be parents.
For most of the scenes that follow, it is Howard telling the guys about his impending fatherhood and their reactions and then the girls learning as well and their reactions.
Howard tells the guys and Sheldon immediately thinks that a baby will ruin all their fun activities, such as going to the comic bookstore, buying toys, and going to Disneyland. Leonard says there is enough room for two babies in the group and Sheldon immediately concludes Penny is pregnant. Leonard sets him straight and says that he (meaning Sheldon) is the other baby. Sheldon replies back that he does not think a baby shaves his face every 11 days like he does. LOL!
Bernadette starts to tell the girls, which Penny ruins by blurting out a text she is reading off of her phone that Bernadette is pregnant (text from Leonard). Needless to say she stole the thunder from Bernie which was a shame, but the girls quickly congratulate her and get excited about her baby. However, Bernadette is still upset that Howard wasn’t as excited as she thought he would be and so they talk about it and try to cheer her up with all kinds of fun ideas. The fun part of the scenes with the girls was Amy. She was so happy to be able to say that she too was “grown up now” since she and Sheldon “did it” and could now join in the conversation about how they were feeling about things. Her reactions were hilarious.
Through the conversation with the girls, Bernadette describes when she conceived and she reveals that she and Howard “did it” on Sheldon’s bed one night when Sheldon was pontificating about trains and going on and on about things. Amy and Bernadette were rather disgusted at that tidbit, even though they had egged her on through the whole recount to tell them the juicy details. LOL! Again, Amy stole the scene though when Bernadette says something about well you know what it is like when your man is on fire and wants you. Mayim’s expression was priceless and her timing impeccable here. She just stares for a long time with a bit of a smirk and then turns to Penny and says Oh yeah, she knows what that is like. LOL!
The boys decide to go out and celebrate Howard’s virility and end up at a tiki bar. Sheldon downs a drink and keeps drinking and gets drunk enough that Leonard becomes an “out of focus face. Shledon takes a trip to the bathroom taunting the others that they will not be able to have any fun without him. While in the bathroom, which really ends up the kitchen of the place, he talks about how much fun the bathroom was and how there were cooks that cook in it. LOL!
Howard had been worried about how he could financially support a child but while Sheldon was off supposedly peeing in the kitchen, he, Raj and Leonard come up with an idea that could be a potential money maker for them. He comes up with a sophisticated guidance system, originally borne out of an idea of improving a guidance system, using some of the principles of Sheldon/Leonard’s paper theory, as a means for drunks to keep them safe and on track.
When Sheldon returns, he validates their plan with a couple of calibration numbers and they all feel that they may have something really worth pursuing which makes Howard far more relaxed and begin to get excited about having a baby.
The girls in the meantime continue talking about the news and get texts from the boys to come join them in karaoke at the bar. Amy knows Sheldon is drunk from his message. When he asked if she would come it ended with a period instead of question mark. That was her way of knowing.
The final scenes are a montage of various karaoke singing scenes, and some cute scenes between the couples.
When the girls arrive, Sheldon immediately pats the empty chair next to him for Amy to come sit next to him and seems happy to see her.
Leonard and Penny get a chance to quickly talk about whether they want to have kids and she says someday, but she is not ready for kids now which he seems to agree with but thinks they will make amazing parents. They were cute and sweet in this scene.
Howard apologizes to Bernie for his reaction and tells her that he is very happy about the baby and while still scared, that he could not be happier. Again, another sweet scene.
Raj and Leonard sing to a Salt a Peppa song (hilarious), then they have Penny and Amy sing Justin Beiber’s song Baby and Sheldon salutes Amy by raising his glass up to her and winking while she sings. Cute scene.
And then the tag scene is Howard gets up and sings a touching “Havin’ my baby” to Bernadette that is adorable when Sheldon interrupts by screaming how it is not cool to have coitus in your friend’s bedroom!
A Second Account With Additional Details in some areas is linked above.
BTS….not much but there was one time during the taping of the second scene that Kunal made Jim laugh really hard out loud. Other than that, everyone was kind of low energy between scenes. Simon paced a lot, Jim a lot of the time just kind of stared down and was kind of spacey. Kunal was quiet for him although he did slightly dance around one time. There was very little interaction between the girls between scenes and same with the boys. Jim flubbed a few lines, Kunal, Simon, and Mayim flubbed once each. The main thing is that the first two scenes took a long time to tape because they kept rewriting them.

As the television landscape continues to expand and evolve, and as the Television Academy’s 20,000+ professional members increasingly create and produce content for new and emerging global platforms, the Television Academy’s Board of Governors has voted to expand its Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony to two consecutive nights, both of which will take place the weekend prior to the Emmy Awards telecast.
The new two-show format at L.A. LIVE’s Microsoft Theater will include presentations of above- and below-the-line awards, as previously presented in a single evening event. These back-to-back ceremonies will honor a wide range of contributors including art directors, costume designers, cinematographers, sound editors and will include both non-traditional short form content as well as traditional content.
The 2016 Creative Arts weekend shows will be produced by Bob Bain who also produced the 2015 show.
“One of our primary missions as an Academy is to recognize creative excellence, both in front of and behind the cameras,” said Academy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bruce Rosenblum. “Our Academy has a legacy of adjusting and expanding our awards to reflect the changing nature of our members’ Emmy-worthy work. The industry is growing, and we now have more than enough wonderful creativity to enjoy a second Creative Arts show where we can celebrate the excellence and achievement of this year’s work.”
To avoid audience-attendance overlap, the two shows will be split into two broad category groups. Additionally, identical Creative Arts Ball celebrations will be held on each night.
