Coach fans that were looking forward to the revival of the series will be sad to learn that the originally picked up for a 13-episode first season scheduled for mid-season release has now been nixed by NBC.

The reboot Coach would have starred Craig T. Nelson, who would be reprising his role as Coach Hayden Fox.   The plan was to have the story follow Fox who would be getting back into the world of coaching after having been in retirement for 18 years.   The revival series was being written by it’s creator, Barry Kemp and prodeuced by Kemp, Nelson, Pamela Grant and Judd Pillot.

During the summer NBC TCA’s, president Bob Greenblatt gave a positive pitch on the decision to revive the series stating it was “a way to do another variation on a family show with, I think, a truly talented star and great show runner and a pre-sold title.”   Given his positive remarks, it makes it all the more interesting that the network has decided to pull the plug on the series.

Creative differences have been cited (by Variety) as the reason behind the decision to nix the reboot of Coach.
