Chadwick Boseman, who turned critic and fans heads alike in Get on Up where he played legendary musician James Brown, has just been offered coveted project roles of late. We covered the Marvel Phase 3 event where it was announced that Boseman would be playing the Black Panther, in which his character will debut in the 2016 release of Captain America 3: Civil War, and then bring the superhero into a separate Black Panther film, which is due out in November 2017.
Today we bring you the announcement that Boseman has been cast in Message from the King, where he will star as Jacob King, who arrives in Los Angeles from South Africa and becomes a man full of vengeance after he learns that his sister had been killed. We follow him for the subsequent six days after he learns of her demise.
Message from the King will be directed by Febrice du welz( Alleluia), produced by Ink Factory’s David Stephen Cornwell and Simon Cornwell with David Lancaster co-producing. Entertainment One will distribute the finished product. Boseman will also Executive Produce the film along with Ash Shah. The script is penned by Stephen Cornwell and Oliver Butcher.
The current shooting schedule would place Boseman to work on the film in February 2015 before heading to move on to work on Captain America 3.
