The CBS new sitcom The McCarthys has been given an order for an additional two episodes. This comes after ratings on Thanksgiving were down to 1.1 in the adults 18-49 ratings demo group. But the network seems to feel it just needs more time and is still remaining committed to helping it move forward.
The McCarthys has a good cast with Laurie Metcalf playing the family matriarch and Jack McGee the patriarch. Tyler Ritter is charming and has a lot of mannerisms and wit like his father, the late John Ritter, plays the gay son in the family. Joey McIntyre and Jimmy Dunn are hilarious as unlikely twins who as adults may even dress alike from time to time, and Kelen Coleman brings beauty and humor with her simplistic character, Jackie.
The show is about an Irish-descent family in Boston who love sports who find ways to express their love through snark and criticism, yet can’t seem to live without each other. While some of it is predictable and a bit tired humor you will still find yourself laughing and drawn in by its charm.
Check out The McCarthys on Thursday nights at 9:30/8:30c on CBS.
