We previously reported that Benedict Cumberbatch was in discussions to become Marvel’s new Doctor Strange.  Well the deal has been closed and it is official that he will be the new Doctor Strange, giving Marvel yet another world-class A-list actor to play a superhero.

Cumberbatch is currently a frontrunner for an Oscar nod for his brilliant performance as Alan Turing in The Imitation Game.   Showing off his muscle at being able to deliver highly technical dialog credence, Cumberbatch played Alan Turning who was the homosexual genius to father the computer and who cracked the Nazi’s unbreakable Enigma Code during  World War II, thus bringing closure to the war much sooner than likely would have occurred.

Cumberbatch is also a fan favorite for bringing Sherlock to the small screen in a modern-day version, exercising brilliance in delivery of technical jargon and showing many layers to the famous detective.   He won his first Emmy Award this year for his portrayal of the complex character.

We will continue to cover the progress of Doctor Strange.  Stay tuned.
