Modern Family‘s Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitch) opens tonight in the Broadway play Fully Committed at the Lyceum Theatre in New York City. Under the direction of Tony-nominee Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect, Avenue Q), Ferguson will play 40 different characters in the play.
Meet Sam(Ferguson). He works the red-hot reservation line at one of New York’s trendiest restaurants, where the best food inspires the worst behavior. A stream of desperate callers—all played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson—will do whatever it takes to land a prime reservation at the best table in Becky Mode’s hilarious and delicious comedy. Amid the barrage, Sam has his own problems to deal with. As he juggles scheming socialites, name-dropping wannabes, fickle celebrities, and an egomaniacal boss, can he still manage to look out for himself?
Fully Committed originated as an off-Broadway hit in 1999, which moved to the Cherry Lane Theatre where it ran for nearly 700 performances. Becky Mode, the screenplay writer, has updated the script and brought new edge to it, reflecting today’s foodie and restaurant culture. Mode with Mark Setlock developed the characters, based on their own experience working in the blistering world of the high-end restaurant industry.

The play is produced by Barbara Whitman, Patrick Catullo, Marcia Goldberg, Tom Casserly, Aaron Glick and David Binder. Original music is by Jeff Richmond. Directed by Moore with assistant director Travis Greisler, sets were designed by Derek McLane with associate set design Erica Hemminger; costumes deisgned by Sarah Laux; lighting design by Ben Stanton with associate lighting design by Wilburn Bonnell and moving light programmer Sean Beach; sound design by Darron L. West with associate sound design by Charles Coes and Matt Hubbs. The production stage manager is Beverly Jenkins and stage manager Michael Rico Cohen with assistant production manager Michael Gurdo. Juniper Street Productions is the production manager.
Fully Committed has been holding preview performances since April 1 and is officially opening tonight at the Lyceum. It is scheduled to run through July 24, 2016. The Lyceum Theatre is located at 149 West 45th Street in New York City, NY.
