Deadpool aka Wade Wilson is a quick-witted, snarky mercenary who has terminal cancer. He underwent military experimentation trying to replicate Wolverine’s mutant healing factor. While he is able to heal quickly and is indestructible, his side effect was that he became an acerbic and ‘devil may care’ scarred individual. He was nicknamed ‘The Merc with a Mouth’. In Wolverine, they pacified the character, which the new Deadpool feature hopes to bring back to be more in line with the comic book character. He will bring back the wit and sharp mouth while constantly testing his indestructibility.
Deadpool has Tim Miller on board to direct the film. Miller put out a test piece with strong visual effects with Reynolds voicing the character and fans were overjoyed with the test clip that encouraged Fox to move forward with the project. The script is by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Lauren Schuler Donner is producing the film.
Reynolds as well as other cast members have posted photos of Deadpool on Twitter, so it is just a matter of finalizing details, but all pretty much a done deal that Reynolds will be in the lead role.
Production for Deadpool will begin in March 2015.
