See Related, Sony pulls The Interview
Sony has been both lauded and criticized over the recent threats placed against them in a cyber attack. Many criticized their choice to pull the film The Interview, while a few sympathized with their predicament and applauded them.
Today in yet another turn of events, Sony has announced that it plans a limited release of The Interview on Christmas Day. While plans are still being formalized thus far theaters in Georgia, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and South Carolina are all on board and have agreed to screen the film.
President Obama, who previously stated he believed Sony had made a mistake by pulling the film, applauded today’s announcement to authorize screenings of the film. “As the President made clear, we’re a country that believes in free speech and the right of artistic expression,” the spokesman added.
An FBI official agreed, stating “we are fully engaged with Sony on the decision” to release The Interview.
Seth Rogen responded via twitter to Sony’s response:
The people have spoken! Freedom has prevailed! Sony didn't give up! The Interview will be shown at theaters willing to play it on Xmas day!

Producer Evan Goldberg also responded via Twitter:
Thanks to everyone who didn't give up on our movie! & I are humbled & overwhelmed by your support. Hope you enjoy the film!

CELEBRATING!!!!! “The Interview” starring Seth Rogen and James Flacco saved by President Obacco! I MEAN PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!! Sorry!
The Interview is a comedy action film about two tabloid reporters that want to go more legit. They learn that Kim Jong-Un loves their reporting and set up an interview with him. However, the CIA interviews and recruits the two reporters, involving them in an assassination plot on Kim Jong-Un. Obviously, the reporters are ill-equipped to handle such a task, bringing in the comedy aspect.
Sony hopes to add more theaters and announce more later today. We will keep you updated as soon as more information becomes available.
