It has been quite a week of anticipation and surprises at the Winter TCAs this year.  CW just announced today at it’s tour that it will be renewing all 8 of it’s scripted series shows, including The 100 and Reign who were a bit “soft” in ratings.   It was likely that it would renew freshman series shows The Flash and Jane the Virgin, as both were doing well and receiving critical acclamation, but also renewed for a third season was The Originals, Reign and The 100.   Arrow will see a fourth season and The Vampire Diaries will go on to a seventh season.

“Each of these series have helped define what The CW is today, a network that is home to smart, provocative, quality programming, targeting a savvy adult audience,” said CW president Mark Pedowitz. “By picking up these shows now, our executive producers can start planning next season’s storylines, and rolling these shows out throughout next season guarantees The CW will have more proven original series for our fall, midseason and summer 2016 line-ups.”

Still having their destiny determined are The Hart of Dixie and Beauty and the Beast.   The network hopes to be able to renew them, but will wait to see if there are  still an audience for both shows and will have more updates later in the Spring or early Summer.

A show that already was canceled is Bloodline.

Supernatural had already been renewed and CW is open to looking at a spinoff.   Another show that may see further expansion into a spinoff is Arrow.  “Could there be another hour in that universe? Possibly. As long as there’s no audience fatigue,” CW President Mark Pedowitz had to say about adding more DC Comics to the lineup.

When the question was posed as to whether or not a new Star Trek series might find its way to CW, Pedowitz replied, “hopefully, we’ll be able to look at it” — not that any new offshoot of the TV-turned-film franchise is on the books. “I have heard no discussions about it going out as a TV series, at all.”
