David Hyde Pierce, probably most known as Niles Crane on Fraiser, will be making his directing debut on Broadway in ‘ It Shoulda Been You‘ which will star Tyne Daly.

Pierce, who is also in an upcoming episode of The Good Wife, also has Harriet Harris (Cinderella) and Sierra Boggess (Little Mermaid), David Burtka, Lisa Howard, Edward Hibbert and Steven Rosen. Daly, Harris, Hibbert and Howard,all of which appeared in the musical’s 2011 premiere at the New Jersey Street Playhouse with Pierce at the helm, have joined the cast.   The play will be produced by Daryl Roth, Scott Landis, Jane Bergere, Jayne Baron Sherman and John O’Boyle.

It Shoulda Been You is a musical comedy description billed as ” in a world where nothing is what it seems, religions collide, Machiavellian plots are revealed, promises broken, secrets exposed, and hope springs from the most unlikely of places. Is it the latest conflict in the Middle East? No, it’s just the Steinberg wedding.”

The musical’s lyrics are by Brian Hargrove and music score by Barbara Anselmi, with additional lyrics from Jill Abramovitz, Carla Rose Fisher, Michael Cooper, Ernie Lijoi and Will Randall. Musical direction will come from David Loud with choreography from Noah Racy (Holiday Inn, Curtains and Never Gonna Dance).

Previews for It Shoulda Been You will begin March 17 and opening night will be April 14 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre located at 256 W 47th St, New York, NY 10036.
