Nicole Bowers was a 13-year old girl living in the United Kingdom who was stricken with cancer. This brave little girl lost her life today to the long battle she fought.
Nicole was diagnosed at age 9 with ependymoma brain and spinal tumors. The had undergone multiple surgeries, proton beam radiation, chemotherapy and radiotherapy to full head and spine, showing bravery and courage thorughout. She remained cheerful even with all the poking and prodding and treatments.
Following Nicole’s 13th birthday celebrations, Nicole turned for the worst. She became weak and lethargic and difficult to support herself. She was not in an pain or distress, but comfortable and would be able to signal with a head shake/nod or thumbs up/down as to what she needed or wanted.
An avid fan of The Big Bang Theory, Nicole’s one wish was that cast members of the show would send her a video greeting. She was granted her wish by all of the main cast and some recurring cast members. See their messages below.
Nicole spent her final days at the Martin House Hospice surrounded by family and friends. She enjoyed her stay at the Martin House Hospice.
Nicole’s mother left this message today. We honor Nicole’s life and pray that she rests in peace. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends and loved ones.
“Our beautiful daughter and sister Nicole passed away peacefully in her sleep last night. She was surrounded by her family who held her hands and cuddled her to the end, which was quick and painless.
Try not to be too sad. I’m sure Nicole would rather you remember the happy memories you have of her and her amazing life.”
