As part of the celebration in the release of the trailer, Helberg and Towne held a Twitter chat for fans to ask questions. We bring you a summary of that chat. But first, we bring you the Trailer:
Simon shows off his wit and sense of humor in his responses to questions fans asked during the chat. We learned through the chat that being on location in France was one of the favorite aspects of filming We’ll Never Have Paris and Helberg responded to that ‘Chivalry for Dummies’ was his one of his favorite things about working on the movie.
Knowing that their story was going to unfold before the world, that Helberg and Towne found working together was well worth it. Asked how they orchestrated directing since both were co-directing the film, Towne replied “I was always behind the camera, Simon always in front!”
When asked what it was like to work with Helberg, Towne responded that Simon was a very hard worker and tough on himself, yet very passionate.
Towne said that the decision to make the movie based on their relationship was made because Helberg felt it was a story too absurd not to share. Whereas, when asked the same question, Helberg replied “A husband and wife directing the story of their demise? Masochism.”
Helberg was asked what he found more intimidating, acting in movies or acting on television. With wit he responded “My epically disastrous, intercontinental breakup with my girlfriend, followed by an even more clumsy proposal. ”
Asked if he preferred playing nerds and whether the character, Quinn in the film We’ll Never Have Paris was also a nerd, Helberg responded with It’s a different character in . Certainly as ill-equipped in the ways of love as Howard” on The Big Bang Theory.
Helberg was asked if he wore a wig on The Big Bang Theory and his response was “Not on my head!”
Helberg was asked about how easy it was to make the switch from a TV series like The Big Bang Theory to making a film. His reply was “I just make sure there’s always a studio audience nearby.’
While a majority of questions fans were asking were about The Big Bang Theory, which was not the purpose of the chat, just as many commented that they were very excited to see the film and that the trailer really rallied their enthusiasm. And with that the chat ended with another witty challenge from Helberg. Will fans and potential audience members take him up on the challenge?
I'll show up naked to tmrw & post a pic if we hit 60k views in 24hrs of the trailer.
