NCIS’s beloved Pauley Perrette was attacked by a homeless man on the street. Her attacker has been arrested.
Friday morning, Perrette, who had been on her way to meet her architect, tweeted about the incident stating that she had been “jumped by a VERY psychotic homeless man” who she continued to say “grabbed me so forcefully, pinned my arm, punched me in the nose, forehead repeatedly telling me he was going to kill me.”
Perette had been alone at the time of the attack and her attacker kept saying “William ___ ___ Don’t forget that! I’m going to kill you!” An empty garage was behind Perrette and she knew that if he had been able to take her to the garage she would be dead. “I knew I couldn’t overcome him and I prayed my heart out and finally said, “William is a beautiful name, I have a little nephew named William.”
The attacker continued to punch Perrette and then said “get the f___ out of here” and she did. In shock, Perrette collapsed on the sidewalk. Some guy walked past her with a dog that licked her face. He was on his phone and annoyed and did nothing, so Perrette texted her friend next door and her church-friend who was a cop. She immediately drew a police sketch of the attacker and her police friend found the guy and arrested the homeless man on felony assault charges.
Perrette has always been active in civil rights and in helping her community. With grace, she has turned this experience into having a deeper understanding for the lack of treatment for those with mental health issues, as well as the lack of housing for homeless people. “My life changed tonight.” Perrette wrote. “We need full mental health care. We need housing and help for the homeless. We need to suport our cops. We need to not walk alone. I need to heal,” and Perrette ended her writings with “I almost died tonight.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ms. Perrette and we are grateful that she was not only alive, but physically okay. We pray that the emotional scars will heal soon as well.
