Broadway’s summer hit An Act of God breaks $1Mil to join the Million Dollar Club this past week with a 96.33% capacity! Even more remarkable is that Broadway overall saw a 4.2% decline, yet An Act of God was one of the few exceptions to see an increase. See chart below of its historical track record.
As of July 12, 2015, the play had already exceeded it’s $2.9 Mil capital investment, so became profitable. But it still had yet to achieve crossing that threshold of a $1Mil per week in sales until this past week.
Congratulations to Joe Mantello, David Javerbaum, Jim Parsons, Christopher Fitgerald, Tim Kazurinsky and the entire creative team and crew! With only 6 days left before the play closes, time to get your tickets if you have not already seen the play.
An Act of God is written by David Javerbaum, based on his book directed by Tony® Award winner Joe Mantello, and stars four-time Emmy® winner Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory, The Normal Heart), who plays himself as a body-inhabited by God, flanked by Christopher Fitzgerald (Finian’s Rainbow, Young Frankenstein, Wicked, Chicago) who plays archangel Michael and Tim Kazurinsky (The Odd Couple, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and three Police Academy films) who plays the archangel Gabriel.
An Act of God is a 90-minute comedy where the Almighty and His devoted angels answer some of the deepest questions that have plagued mankind since Creation. He’s finally arrived to set the record straight… and He’s not holding back! An Act of God is playing at Studio 54 through August 2, 2015.
